ein neuer duft pour moi?

ELEASE THE FORCE OF LOVE

The Body Shop – Love Etc…™

♦ Kopfnoten: Birne, Neroli, Bergamotte
♦ Herznoten: Jasmin, Sonnenwende, Maiglöckchen
♦ Basisnoten: Vanille, Sandelholz, Musk Cream**

♦ Love Etc…™ Body Wash
200 ml € 6,00*

♦ Love Etc…™ Body Lotion
200 ml € 10,00*

VMAs or what's wrong with content - the regional restriction drama

Yes, I do not watch TV. And yes, I go to work. Plus I live in Europe.
So it was kind of impossible to watch the VMAs last night.

First thing in the morning - checking out the trending topics on twitter.
VMAs present. And mashable.com with a Kanye West article.
So next thing - going to the official MTV website.

Clicking on the "Video"-Button.
Surprise, surprise:

"Sorry, we're unable to offer this video to users in your region."
(pic.1)

Ok, this is not a drama yet.

But what about Spotify?
Yes "Why is Spotify not available in my country?"
I do not find the answer in the article.
(pic.2)

And do not forget YouTube. Same story here.
(pic. 3, in German, yes IP detectin does work)

So what a choice do have users?
Pay for content? No.
I asked spotify if I can keep my account if I upgrade again. The answer is "no" due to copyright restrictions.

Hack? Only if I am in the mood for changing proxy settings. (plus I am kind of lazy)

Quit?
Hm, after watching some VMAs pics (yes, they were available in my country) I'm not sure I need MTV awards anymore.
I do have better dresses in my wardrobe (or do you remember the same-p!nk-shakira-dress), fall out boy and the all american rejects are far from what a rock band stands for, and recently I've been thinking my friends at a party can think of better lyrics and chords anyway. The only thing MTV still has is some kind of a-valley-we-are-so-dumb-show glamour.

Let's all thank God for Russell Brand.
(Did he do well?)

p.s. Copyright restrictions are so hot

The Hole in the Sum of My Parts // Matt Harvey // a friend has just sent me this

Part of me is punctual - it turns up right on time
Part of me is functional - though slightly past its prime
Part of me is lowly - it lows just like a cow
Part of me is holy - at least holier-than-thou
Part of me's subliminal - it's kind of either/or
Part of me is criminal - it's quite against the law
Part of me is actually more solid than it seems
And part of me is factual
But most of me is dreams

Part of me is truculent - don't look that way at me
Part of me is succulent - suck it and you'll see
Part of me's detestable - or so people have said
Part of me's suggestible - or so people have said
Part of me's competitive - it only wants to win
Part of me's repetitive - or so people have said
Part of me's interminable - it goes on and on and on
And on and on and on and on and on and on (and on)
Part of me's prolific - it writes reams and reams and reams
And part of me's terrific
But most of me is dreams

Parts of me are distant - and yet can seem so near
Parts of me are whispers, which the other parts can't hear
Parts of me are broken and tremble to the touch
And these parts can be spoken - but I don't speak them much
Part of me is pensive - I think. But I don't know.
Part of me's defensive --- so?
Part of me's celestial - it gleams and beams and gleams
And part of me is bestial - GRRRR!
But most of me is dreams

Part of me is tiny - but not the part you think
Part of me is shiny - and a pleasing shade of pink
Part of me is laudable - it's for a worthy cause
And part of me's inaudible (whispered: like imaginary gorse)
Part of me is hairy - to be honest, not a lot
Part of meLs contrary - no, it's not
Part of me's co-operative - it plays so well in teams
And part of me's inoperative
But most of me is dreams

Parts of me are latent - lurking dormant underneath
Parts of me are blatant - for some reason they're called Keith
Parts of me have stamina - because I do Chi Gung
And part of me's my anima - according to the psychology of Carl Gustav Jung
Part of me is piddling - yet full of cosmic yearning
And part of me is fiddling - while the rest of me is burning
Part of me is fluent - it flows as sure as streams
While part of me plays truant
But most of me - as I've tried to emphasize here - is dreams

@spotify does not want me

I just got this email from Spotify

Dear Spotify user,

We're writing to you in regards to your Spotify account which up
until now you've been using free of charge.  While we are really
happy that you are enthusiastically using Spotify, we are
unfortunately going to have to restrict access to your free
account.

Spotify is currently available in six countries: Sweden, Norway,
Finland, Spain, France and the UK.  We never intended to allow
use of our service outside of those countries and we do not run
any adverts on your account like we do in the launch countries.
For this reason we have to restrict your account, you will be
able to log in to Spotify and view music and playlists but not
listen to any music.

We are sorry that we have to take this step.  We do hope to
launch our free service in more countries in the future.

If you have any questions regarding this please feel free to
contact our support team. (support@spotify.com)

Regards,
The Spotify team.

Now I do not really know what to think.

I first heard of spotify in spring 2007 and since then had been eagerly waiting for the live beta.
In Ocotber/November 2008 when Spotify went out of the private beta I signed up for a premium account which WAS available in my country - Germany.
I have been paying for the service for two months but decided to downgrade from the premium version because in 2008 the song data base was far from complete.
This step downgraded me to a free, ad-supported stream. And this is how I have been using spotify eversince.

I am really happy with the service and have done a really nice promotion for the software.
Spotify is quite active on twitter, if they don't contact me there I'll have to right an email. (ouch)

Banner aid

Waiting for my last.fm shoegaze radio to start streaming I did sometihg I hardly do twice a year - I took notice of the content ad on the last.fm page.
It was displaying a new fragrance ad. Everyone needs consumer goods - certainly some of us spend more time & money on them but I don't know a person who lives completely detached from the world of material goods.

So I think that everyone needs some more consumer-sensitive marketing. I'm sure there are a lot of guys around to world who will be really interested in that new fragrance. How to link their potential interest to this often shielded and disregarded medium the banner ad?

I can imagine a website which aggregates every new consumer product with basic information (company delivered and user generated) and consumer ratings and comments would be a great success. There are already some examples - like getsatisfation.com.  Why don't companies use this as a chance to inform their customers about their new products and a new way to interact with them?

Many of us are already banner-blind, companies are consumer-deaf. Now (with some new government regulations especially in the EU) there is the threat of internet becoming dumb.

brandhorst museum

I went today to the brand new brandhorst museum located in munich.
I read the artist information two months ago and thought: 90% of them are still alive! This is literally contemporary art.
And definitely not my cup of tea. I thought initially.

It was a beautiful day today but since my stomach is still sick I couldn't go out of the city so I gave brandhorst a try.
And took some pics.

1 - you can see the museum from the outside

2 - the first painting that I liked

3 - piece of art which I DO NOT understand

4 - there were some andy warhol paintings (including two of the crazy hair self portraits)

5 & 6 - this is a real (dead&in-a-brandhorst-manner-immortal) parrot !!!

7 - love declaration

8 - the gloomiest toilet ever

9 - my favourite one: these little thingies are pills!

10 - funny & scary

11 - call it scepticism. modern art is so overrated!

12 - some visitors in the lounge

13 - the scariest elevator I've ever been in

14 - colorful

15 - my book & brandhorst museum in partner look

so I kind of liked it. emotions it provoked (this is what art is all about or?): fear, scepticism, amusment
